Dear Friend of the Edison Ford Winter Estates,
We are celebrating our Tenth Anniversary as the independent non-profit organization in charge of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. This year marks a decade of continued progress, stable and growing operations, and exciting new exhibits and site improvements.
The short overview reflects the continued growth and stability of the site.
Our visitation numbers are up two percent this year again, with our attendance at over 250,000 visitors annually. Edison Ford membership includes about 7,500 people who participate at Edison Ford and hundreds of reciprocal sites nationally. We employ 80 paid staff and 250 unpaid volunteers. Our operating budget for the current year is $6 million with an additional $200,000 in capital improvements and ongoing preservation. We continue to be an important economic engine for the region.
In program development the education and community programs cover science, history, the arts and culture making Edison Ford a very engaging visit for all ages.
We are continuing to develop the riverfront garden areas and will complete construction of the new River Pavilion in the coconut grove. This open air classroom, entertainment and rental facility has the look of the old Edison Pavilion, but will be able to host concerts, after-hours rentals, and daytime classes. It is connected to the Marina at Edison Ford, Pinchers Restaurant and the river cruise operation.
