Gardening in Southwest Florida requires specific knowledge since it is the only state in USDA growing zone 10. Many plants from all over the world thrive in the warm Southwest Florida temperatures and enjoy the daily summer rains. At Edison and Ford, there are plants from Costa Rica, Brazil, Thailand, India and other parts of the world. During this talk, participants will walk through the botanical gardens and learn more about the varieties that grow here throughout the summer. Tips on growing tropical plants at home will also be provided. Bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes. All participants will receive a 20% off coupon for plant purchases in the Garden Shoppe. Advanced registration is not required.
